PRP Neck Treatment in Boca Raton, FL

PRP Neck Treatment

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has the potential to accelerate healing and improve outcomes in various musculoskeletal conditions – including various neck injuries and conditions. PRP has quickly become the most well-known and widely celebrated treatment in the rapidly developing field of regenerative medicine, useful for treating a myriad of conditions. Why? Because research has shown that PRP not only reduces the time it takes for injuries to heal but can help treat injuries that have not responded to other treatments – simply by harnessing your body’s intrinsic healing capabilities

PRP is especially beneficial for neck injuries involving soft tissues like muscles, ligaments, and tendons. PRP treatments can be used for conditions ranging from whiplash to osteoarthritis in the neck.

PRP works by stimulating the body's natural healing processes through the concentration of platelets and growth factors. What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is essentially a derivative of your own blood that has been enriched by concentrating platelets above their normal concentration. The process involves extracting a small amount of your blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the other components in your blood. These platelets contain special growth factors which promote healing in injured tissues.

Also known as thrombocytes, the platelets that are extracted from your own blood can be safely re-injected into injured areas of your body, including your neck, to accelerate healing and improve outcomes.

PRP Neck Treatment works by harnessing your body’s own healing abilities to promote the repair and regeneration of soft tissue injuries in your neck. When the concentrated platelet-rich plasma is injected into the injured areas of your neck, it can:

  • Stimulate cell proliferation
  • Induce collagen production
  • Promote tissue remodeling
  • Attract stem cells to the site of injury
  • Stimulate the release of growth factors and cytokines
  • And more!

Which Neck Conditions Can PRP Treat?

PRP Neck Treatment is able to target damaged neck muscles, ligaments, and tendons – alleviating pain, reducing inflammation and accelerating the healing process. It can restore function and mobility quickly. The following neck conditions generally respond well to PRP Neck Treatment:

  • Anterior Longitudinal Ligament (ALL) Injury
  • Cervical Facet Joint Pain
  • Cervical Radiculopathy
  • Ligament Injury
  • Muscle Strain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Whiplash

In addition to neck conditions, our clinic also provides PRP treatments for a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries in the following areas, as well:

  • Joints
  • Lower Back
  • Hands
  • Shoulders
  • Elbows
  • Wrists
  • Hips
  • Knees

PRP treatments are less invasive and less expensive than traditional surgery. With no downtime, they heal injured and damaged tissue with little to no scarring from the injections and have an excellent safety profile.

The PRP Advantage: Benefits of PRP Neck Treatment

PRP has an established reputation for effectiveness and safety. The term "platelet-rich plasma" was first coined in 1954. PRP was first used in the 1970s, primarily for blood transfusions to treat thrombocytopenia, which involves low platelet counts.

Because of its wound-healing, anti-inflammatory, and cell growth promoting potential, its use began to accelerate in the 1980s, especially in surgical procedures, and it exploded in popularity in the early 2000s – a trend that has only continued. Its current applications range from cardiac muscle injury to plastic surgery, nerve injury, oral surgery, aesthetics and musculoskeletal injuries, and the list of applications appears to be growing every day.

It is a well-established treatment with a long history of use that offers the following benefits:

  • Uses your own blood plasma
  • Triggers innate healing response
  • Customized treatment
  • Excellent safety profile
  • Speeds recovery
  • Lasting results
  • Non-surgical and minimally invasive
  • Few or no side effects
  • Decreases inflammation and pain
  • Enhances collagen production
  • Complements other treatments and therapies
  • Quick injection procedure that can be performed on your lunch hour
  • And so much more!

FAQs

How long will it take for me to see results?

Results vary among Dr. Borenstein’s patients. You may see a difference in function, pain and inflammation within one to two weeks after treatment, with full benefits unfolding over four to six weeks.

How many PRP Neck Treatments will I need?

The number of PRP treatments you may need for neck pain and injury will vary depending on your particular condition and how your body responds to PRP treatment. Most patients require one to three injections, spaced four to six weeks apart. Some people experience significant improvement after just one injection, while others sometimes require a series of injections. The specific number and timing of treatments will be determined by Dr. Borenstein as he evaluates your progress.

Is PRP safe for me?

In general, PRP has an excellent safety profile. Please discuss all of your safety concerns at our first session. If you have specific allergies (e.g., to stainless steel), have hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction, anemia, cancer, or blood clotting disorders, any injections may be inadvisable, including PRP. Also, if you are pregnant or nursing or taking certain medications, we may need to delay or advise against treatment.

Rest assured, we will evaluate if PRP is the best choice for you after looking at your medical history, your genetic background and any specific risk factors you may have before we begin your treatment, to ensure your PRP Neck Treatment is both safe and effective.

Are the Injections painful?

Most of our patients experience little to no discomfort from PRP injections. The injections are considered minimally painful. Of course, some discomfort is expected with any injection. The pain level varies depending on an individual’s tolerance for pain and reaction to needles. The treatment area also can make a difference. At the very worst, you may feel a brief, sharp pain or pressure as the needle enters your skin, and you may experience a mild ache or tenderness after treatment.
